Arthur G. Anderson I am the daughter-in-law of Arthur G. Anderson (died Nov. 1991)of the 31st... He designed granite memorial on Mt. Surabachi. He also made extensive maps of the volcanic caves on Iwo Jima and received praise and recognition from the Navy for his work. We learned of this site through archives dept. of the LCRA in Austin TX and Diane Kuebler. On Nov. 6, 2003 Art will be honored along with other WWII vets who are/were employed by the Lower Colorado River Authority (which provides electrical service to parts of Central Texas)in a ceremony in Smithville, TX. Art worked for the LCRA in Austin and used his engineering and artistic talents in designing murals, maps, parade floats, outdoor Christmas displays, such to name a few. Art's son and my husband, Lt. James D. Anderson, Ret., was stationed in Gulfport, MS in early '70's. Paula Anderson (Paroand@aol.com) |
